Since 1957, the Delaware Choral Society has brought the music of great composers to Dover and its surrounding communities.

Our first season with new conductor Kevin W. Thomas ended on a wonderfully optimistic note with our spring concert "Songs of Struggle and Hope."  The concert included a variety of pieces that reflected so well the hopes as well as the struggles of the past and, as a consequence, of the present and future.  This concert was presented in conjunction with the excellent choral group Bach to the Future of Easton, Maryland, and we were also treated to presenting our program at the historic Avalon Theatre in Easton.  The centerpiece of the concert, Donald McCullough's Holocaust Cantata proved to be a thrilling and moving experience for performers as well as audience.

The Delaware Choral Society at the 50th Anniversary Gala Concert held on May 12, 2007, at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, Delaware.  To the left is then conductor Judy Moore, who was with the Society for 19 years.  Go to About Us to find out about our current conductor Kevin W. Thomas.

We have exciting music in store for the 2008-2009 season, including a wonderful concert of Christmas classics in the fall, and a special celebration in the spring with American sacred music treasures!

Rehearsals will begin September 9, 2008, to prepare for the Christmas concert, and we hope that you will plan to sing with us or to attend our concert at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover on December 7, 2008, at 4:00 p.m.  See A Letter from Kevin for more details; feel free to call us at 302-422-7775 if you have any questions.

We'd also like to invite you to share memories at a Delaware Choral Society History Blog hosted by Susan Vowels, a past president of the Delaware Choral Society.  She is in the planning stages of writing a book about the first fifty years of this Diamond State Gem - if you'd like to contribute, please go to www.dcsmemories.blogspot.com.

Here's to another 50 years!

Share the special experience of singing outstanding choral works.  Enjoy a wonderful learning experience under the direction of Kevin W. Thomas, conductor.
