Outreach Ensemble rehearsals are Sundays from 4-5:30PM in the choir room at Wesley UMC. All paid members of the Delaware Choral Society are welcome to join the DCS Outreach Ensemble without audition. The DCS Outreach Ensemble is a group of volunteers, led by Jim Byrne, who prepare popular music for performance by invitation at area venues. We have sung at Westminster Village, Dover Place, Spring Meadow, Modern Maturity Center, and Harvest Years, among others. We can always use more singers. I guarantee it’s a lot of fun. We have a potential gig in Selbyville on Saturday, December 7th at 3PM. Other gigs will be announced as we learn about them.

All regular rehearsals will be held Tuesdays, 7-9PM in the fellowship hall at Wesley UMC. The final rehearsal will be at Dover High School auditorium and will begin at 6PM. Please try to attend every rehearsal. Our attendance policy requires that if you miss more than 3 rehearsals you must get approval from the artistic director, Dr. James Wilson, to sing in the concert. If James feels it is necessary, he may require you to demonstrate you know the music. Even if you feel confident in the music, others are depending on your presence. Also, having the full choir at every rehearsal is crucial for James to be able to judge the balance of sound.

Please always enter and exit the church through the portico door.Other doors should always remain locked. This is a security issue for the church so please comply. Thank you.

The concert date and time is December 15th at 4PM with a call time for singers approximately 2PM (James will provide the exact time at the final rehearsal). Please put this date on your calendar! We will need volunteers to help with setting up the stage for the final rehearsal and the concert. If you are interested in helping, please see Page Boyce (tenor), Richard Satter (bass and treasurer) or any other board member. We will also need volunteers to be ushers and help with the front of the house during the concert. Please start thinking now of anyone you may know who can help.

If you borrowed your music please follow these guidelines:Only mark your music with pencil that can be later erased. Do NOT use pen or highligher. You may 3-hole punch your music to fit into a 3-ring binder, but please be careful that you don’t punch a hole through the actual music. If you find you cannot sing in the concert, please return your music as soon as possible. You will be expected to pay for any music not returned. There will be a place to drop your borrowed music immediately after the concert. Please do not leave the concert venue without returning your music.

Concert Dress: While the board has not yet voted on the concert dress code for this season, here is some general information about how we dress on stage: Women wear all black from neck to toe. This includes long sleeves, black stockings and black shoes. Jewelry will be kept to a minimum (wedding and engagement rings are ok). We usually wear white pearl earrings and a white pearl string necklace. Men wear a black tuxedo with a white shirt and black bow tie, black socks and black shoes.

Board of Directors:Any paid DCS member is eligible to be on the DCS Board of Directors. Elections for new board members are usually held a couple weeks before our spring concert. However, we do currently have two vacancies that need to be filled and can be filled by appointment. If you are interested, please speak to any board member.

And now for more fundraisers…

Redner’s Gift Cards – ongoing fundraiser: Purchase a $100 gift card for Redner’s Warehouse Market and purchase $100 worth of groceries and gas. For every $100 gift card sold DCS keeps $5. Buy them for yourself, or as a gift for someone else. See Judy McNamire (soprano) if you are interested.

Amazon Smile – ongoing fundraiser: If you have an account with, you can use that same account and make your purchases through Just select Delaware Choral Society as the charity you want to support and order whatever you want. Amazon will donate around 1% of your purchase to DCS.

Peanuts! Get Your Peanuts! Jim Byrne (bass) is selling bags of Texas Roadhouse peanuts for $3 per bag. With each bag you get a coupon for a free appetizer at Texas Roadhouse.

Ads, Patrons and Boosters: These are for our concert program booklet. Forms will be available at rehearsals. You can sell to area businesses, friends and family.

GoFundMe: Last year we purchased a set of risers so we no longer have to scramble to borrow risers from area schools. We borrowed money to pay for them and we need to repay that debt. Click here to go to our GoFundMe page and make a donation. That donation will go directly to paying off the risers.

Christmas Ornaments: We still have DCS Christmas ornaments available for $5. They are red Christmas balls with the DCS angel logo surrounded by “Delaware Choral Society – In Harmony Since 1957”. Please see Joanne if you are interested.
