Love to sing?
Whether you’re a life-long choir member or new to reading music, we’d love to have you! DCS welcomes all community members in high-school or older who are interested in choral singing without audition. Our Youth Chorale welcomes students in grades 3 – 8.
Weekly rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 7p-9p at Wesley United Methodist Church (209 S. State St, Dover). Our registration fee for each semester (fall or spring) is $40. (High school and college students: only $15. Wesley College students: see Dr. Wilson to register.)
To protect the health and safety of our members and our audience, the DCS Board of Directors has decided not to go forward with the upcoming 2020 fall season. There will be no rehearsals nor concert in 2020. We are closely following the developments and guidelines of the American Choral Directors Association and the State of Delaware and will make a decision about the spring 2021 season before the end of this year. Please join our mailing list to receive important updates.
We will also post updates on our Facebook page, so be sure to follow us there! Stay safe and healthy!
Realms of Glory – Dec 2019
In Fall 2019, our holiday concert featured Mendelssohn’s Christus; Christmas Day by Gustav Holst; and other festive works. DCS was excited to share this concert on December 15, 2019 at the Dover High School under the direction of Dr. James Wilson and joined by the Delaware Youth Chorale, directed by Heather Swartzentruber. We were accompanied by a small orchestra of musicians from central Delaware with Amos Fayette as our concertmaster.
Elijah – Spring 2020
In spring 2020, we will present Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn. For this oratorio, DCS and DYC will be joined on stage by a full orchestra under the direction of Dr. James Wilson and with concertmaster, Eliezer Gutman. Our orchestra will include professionals from the Delaware Symphony and Newark Symphony orchestras and other regional musicians.
